Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 album from British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost. Obsidian, the group's 16th studio album, was recorded with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, eschews it's immediate predecessors' gruesome, myopic approach in favor of a richer and more dynamic deluge of black shades. From the deceptive elegance and dual atmospheres of opener "Darker Thoughts" through to the crushing, baroque doom of war-torn closer "Ravenghast", Obsidian reveals a band in masterful control of a broad array of vital ideas.
ABBATH comment on the album: "Abbath, honed sharp by trial and terror, proudly present 'Outstrider' - our latest catharsis wrung from the guts of darkness. Forged in fiery furnace of adversity, hammered on an anvil of rage, this album is conjured from conflagration coughed from rift of Chaos, rising like a Phoenix from the Pit, to infect our Spitegeist with shamaniacal reflections sheathed in metal compositions, hooked and riffed by razor wire licks impaling bass-lines pulsed on drumbeats dredged from thunderous abyss, by a hive-mind wed to one whole emission: To boldly go where no band has gone before and one step further!"
The coverartwork, which is created by Kim Holm and Olav Iversen, and the track-list for 'Outstrider' can be found below.
Focusing on his love of horror and suspense, Rob Zombie named his second album The Sinister Urge, after the 1961 film of the same name (directed by Ed Wood). Featuring his third Top 20 Mainstream Rock single 'Demon Speeding' as well as metal juggernauts Ozzy Osbourne (guest vocals on 'Iron Head') and Kerry King (additional guitars on 'Dead Girl Superstar') along with a slurry of other notable guest musicians, this album has achieved platinum sales status as well garnering Rob his second Top 10 album chart in the Billboard 200.
Tying together three of his major loves: classic horror films, hard rock, and electronic music, Rob Zombie created and released his debut solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe in August 1998. Featuring his iconic hits 'Dragula,' 'Living Dead Girl' and 'Superbeast,' Helbilly Deluxe cemented Rob Zombie as a hugely successful solo artist with over 3 million album sales and his first Top 5 album chart position in the Billboard 200.
Black Label Society bandleader Zakk Wylde wields his guitar like a Viking weapon, bashing out thick riffage and squeezing out expressive squeals as if the glory of his Berserker brotherhood depends upon every single note, which of course, it does. Charismatic beast and consummate showman, Wylde puts his massive heart and earnest soul on display with unbridled, unchained, animalistic passion in Black Label Society, whether it’s a crushingly heavy blues-rock barnstormer or a piano-driven ode to a fallen brother. Each Black Label Society album is another opportunity to top the one before it, but like AC/DC or The Rolling Stones, BLS isn’t here to reinvent the wheel. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It’s a brand we can trust. Grimmest Hits, the band’s tenth full-length studio album and follow-up to Billboard Top 5 entries Catacombs of the Black Vatican (2014) and Order of the Black (2010), Black Label Society submit new anthems like radio single “Room of Nightmares,” the bluesy “Seasons of Falter,” and Southern-fried “The Day That Heaven Had Gone Away” to the BLS faithful; 12 unstoppable tracks to add to that lifestyle soundtrack.
Over the past 20 years, Grammy-nominated band TRIVIUM — Matt Heafy [vocals, guitar], Corey Beaulieu [guitar], Paolo Gregoletto [bass], and Alex Bent [drums]— have quietly claimed their place at the forefront of heavy music in the 21st century. The Florida-based band is pleased to announce that its ninth full length What The Dead Men Say will be released through Roadrunner Records on April 24.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release from the iconic metal band. Cirith Ungol first appeared on the scene with their self-financed debut album, Frost and Fire, via their own Liquid Flame Records imprint in April 1981. It was obscure and arcane, mysterious and eccentric, epic and expansive, but most of all unfailingly, bone-crushingly heavy, dark and doom-filled. Now, as the Cirith Ungol resurrection enters it's fifth year, the band proudly presents Forever Black, Cirith Ungol's first collection of all-new material in 29 years! Make no mistake: Forever Black is a classic Cirith Ungol album in every sense of the word. The trademark dark and foreboding riffs, pounding rhythms, and soul-searing vocal attack are instantly recognizable as the Kings of the Dead. From a songwriting standpoint, Forever Black touches on all of the elements that make Cirith Ungol revered, from the exhilarating uptempo call to arms that is "Legions Arise" to the clever incorporation of past glories in "The Frost Monstreme" to the somber and dynamic "Stormbringer" to the primal chest-beating epic finale of the title track. Lyrically, Forever Black explores topics ranging from high fantasy themes to rallying cries for the legions to apocalyptic visions of burning fires, incarnate evil and jet- black darkness. The icing on the cake is the striking cover painting by Michael Whelan, whose magnificent visuals remain inextricably associated with Cirith Ungol.

Limited black/white colored vinyl LP pressing. Includes digital download. Reissue. Nuns Have No Fun - AKA Mercyful Fate - is the first official release from Danish black metal band Mercyful Fate. It is a four track, 45rpm effort and was recorded and mixed at Stone Studio in Roosendaal, Netherlands, in two days in September 1982. The album was produced and mixed by Jac Hustinx and engineered by Willem Steetjes.
Formed in 1991 by Jonas Renkse & Anders Nyström, and transitioning from early pioneers of the rising black/death/doom movement, to powerhouses of the progressive metallic rock genre, the Swedish connoisseurs of melancholy return with their stellar new opus, City Burials - the band’s eleventh studio album, & first since 2016’s haunting The Fall of Hearts was brought before the world.
With the winds of a new direction steering the band on their latest journey, City Burials stands as Katatonia’s new triumph of deep & enigmatic progressive rock – the fruits of a rejuvenating and profound chapter in the band’s legacy; a catalyst for its creators, with a collection of moments constructed out of the fragments of an ever-evolving life. Compiled into one of their most important modern works and statements to date, the finely-honed instrumentation provides a multi-textured backdrop with the voice of Jonas Renkse guiding us through these latest trials of loss and ruin.
Beyond their core creative duo, Katatonia are very much a full-blown band, and the chemistry between Jonas, Anders and their band mates – bassist Niklas Sandin, drummer Daniel Moilanen and most recent recruit, guitarist Roger Öjersson – has never sounded more potent, with City Burials being the first album Katatonia have made since Öjersson became a full-time member.
Inspired by an injection of fresh blood into Katatonia’s creative brew, City Burials is an album that sees the band reclaim part of their heavy metal roots, via several moments of exuberant, old school classicism, deftly woven into these new songs’ kaleidoscopic fabric. Resulting in an album that looks certain to push the band ever further into the spotlight.
City Burials was produced by Nyström/Renkse and recorded at Soundtrade Studios, Tri-Lamb Studios & The City Of Glass, throughout October & November 2019, with engineering work handled by Karl Daniel Lidén with mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen. The album also features a guest appearance by Anni Bernhard, the voice behind Stockholm based act Full of Keys. Artwork appears courtesy of Lasse Hoile, the image itself representing the ongoing era of the Dead End King.
The band will be supporting the release with festivals and touring planned throughout 2020 and 2021 including an appearance at 2020’s Psycho Festival.
1979 was MOTÖRHEAD year – the year of ‘Bomber’. MOTÖRHEAD, the loudest band in the world, with the power and force of a hundred pneumatic drills they destroyed the nation over and again and no-one, repeat no-one, remained unaffected by them – everyone was torn limb from limb. The album ‘Bomber’ and was ten times more powerful than their first album ‘Motörhead’, which was a killer in itself. The production was in the capable and experienced hands of one Jimmy Miller, whose previous successes had been with the likes of the Rolling Stones. He brought out the very best in the boys and the total effect was lethal. ‘Bomber’ is full of real skullcrackers, brain damaging to the nth degree and with the hit single 'Bomber' and tracks like 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' you can doubtless guess the destroying effect of the whole affair. That’s Motörhead; straight, basic, down to earth rock and roll, with absolutely no holds barred.

Aptly entitled “For The Dead Travel Fast” after German gothic poet Gottfried August Bürger, Kadavar’s doomed fifth record is a perilous journey into the land of the dead, a foray into the bleakest corners of our minds. A heavy, slow-paced, throbbing force of guitar, bass and drums, preciously enriched by spooky synths and a brooding narrative reminiscent of the Victorian death-cult. Beware, this is Kadavar gone pitch-black! Think Hawkwind with old Pink Floyd melodies, eerily sung to you from the grave. Just like the album cover, taken in front of Dracula’s alleged crib in Transylvania, mysterious Castle Bran, the whole album is drenched in superstition, Romanian folklore and the mysterious ways of our psyche. Self-recorded and self-produced , “For The Dead Travel Fast” is Kadavar’s very own death cult, an album at the same time uncanny and extremely powerful.
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release from the metal band. Verminous is The Black Dahlia Murder's most dynamic, rousing and emotional release to date, and it achieves this without compromising one iota of heaviness. "I think this is the biggest evolutionary leap we've ever taken from one album to the next. We stoked the creative fires with 2017′s Nightbringers and it's gone much further now in Verminous," states vocalist Trevor Strnad. "It's a very colorful, moody, and charismatic album that experiments with new sounds and ideas without losing the cutthroat Black Dahlia edge. There is a lot of minutiae to digest. Plenty of delicious little Easter eggs woven into the fabric of each song. Each one is a living, breathing entity that will stand on it's own as some of the best music this band has ever created."
After six years of silence, American death metal collective Abysmal Dawn have returned with Phylogenesis, their most technical and refined offering to date. The highly-anticipated album displays a clear evolution from the band as they put forth a complex cacophony of searing riffs, blood-curdling vocals, and pummeling drums.
